Summary
We are looking for a Wireless Network Modelling Engineer to help develop Wireless Networking solutions for Next Generation Wi-Fi networks.
Responsibilities
Primarily, this role shall be responsible for
- Modelling Wireless Access protocols (e.g., 3GPP, 802.11) in C/C++ and Python, and running simulations to quantify performance
- Developing a bespoke Wireless Network Simulator including different traffic models to represent both real-time and non-real-time data
- Implementing relevant 802.11 MAC protocols and custom accelerators to simulate network capacity, throughput, spectral efficiency and other KPIs
- Helping simulate network performance and behaviour in presence of RF imperfections
- Identifying potential limitations in candidate protocols and proposing mitigations
- Writing documents and design notes and discussing progress
Requirements
The successful candidate will be team player with a genuine interest in Wireless Communications and Networking. Candidates are expected to be versatile, proactive and self-motivated with good social skills.
Following requirements are a must:
- MSc or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Proven competency in writing efficient code in C/C++, Python and/or Matlab
- Proficiency at writing, debugging and executing code in a Linux environment, including shell scripting and job schedule management
- Familiarity with software configuration management tools (Git, Mercurial, SVN), defect tracking tools, and peer review
- Sound knowledge of Wireless Networks, particularly 802.11 based WiFi
- Good understanding of multiple access schemes such as TDMA, CSMA/CA in the context of radio communications
- Ability to write and present technical content
- Proficiency in MS Office Tools
Following qualifications will make you stand out:
- Hands-on experience in Network modelling tools such as OPNET, QualNet, ns2/ns3
- Wireless System level understanding including Link Budget and RF Systems
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of 802.11 (WiFi) or 3GPP (4G, 5G)
- Prior experience in C++ libraries such as Boost, Asio, OMNeT++, ns3 and others
