DSP Engineer – Leuven (B) or Thames Valley (UK)

Summary

We are looking for a DSP Software Engineer with at least 5 years’ commercial experience.  The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for delivering Layer-1 (PHY) Modem solutions for Wireless Networks.

Responsibilities

Primarily, this role will be responsible for

  • Designing the PHY layer DSP algorithms such as, filters, correlators, synchronization, equalization, FEC
  • Developing baseband equivalent models for RF impairments, Array Signal Processing and the Propagation Channel, respectively
  • Developing fix-point sample accurate specification for DSP datapaths
  • Developing Code in Matlab, Python and C/C++
  • Following developments in 3GPP, 802.11, ECMA, ITU-R and other standards bodies
  • Writing documents and design notes; communicating and discussing progress

Requirements

The successful candidate must have a strong background in Wireless Communications Research and Development.  They are expected to be a team player; one who is versatile, proactive and self-motivated with good inter-personal and social skills.

Following requirements are a must:

  • D or M.Sc in Wireless Communications; ideally in PHY layer topics
  • Demonstrable expertise in algorithm design
  • Strong mathematical skills and willingness to innovate and ‘think outside of the box’
  • Good understanding of well-known Wireless Communications standards, such as 4G, 5G, WiFi, ZigBee, UWB, LoRA, SigFox,…
  • Aptitude in real-time implementation of complex DSP algorithms and datapaths
  • Competence at writing and presenting technical content
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, i.e., Word, Excel, Power-point, Outlook etc

Following qualifications will make you stand out:

  • Prior experience in RTL (VHDL, Verilog) development for FPGA or ASIC
  • Working knowledge of RF solutions (analogue signal processing) and constituents such as PLLs, Quadrature Mixers, Analogue filters, Power Amplifiers, Mutual Coupling issues
  • Research publications or submissions at standards bodies
